Carrick Raiders 2008 Varsity Baseball

The 2008 Carrick Raiders Varsity Baseball team will kick off the season Thursday in South Carolina in their annual fund raising trip. The 2008 team is headlined by senior star Ted Fricke who will do a majority of the pitching. Other senior stars include Steve Brody who will be moving from right field to centerfield and batting lead off, Scott Girdwood who will also be playing a new position, doing the catching for the 2008 Raiders, and last but certainly not least short stop Dylan Kopnitsky who looks to lead the team in batting average for a 3rd straight year. Soon after the Raiders return from the trip in South Carolina the Raiders will resume City League play in hopes to capture back-to-back City League championships. The Raiders will work with a 3 man rotation with star Ted Frick being the ace followed by senior Drew Staude coming off knee surgery and junior Dan Horhut wrapping up the rotation. With the loss of 5 starters last year the Raiders lineup will be lacking run production but, sophomore Brian Grundle and junior Jeff O’Connner look to fill two of the big holes.
